As a travel writer, Jessica enjoys experiencing local cultures through food from truffle hunting in Istria to covering all the fried food at the Iowa State Fair and dining at Slovenia's only Three-Star Michelin restaurant. She focuses on food's ability to connect people across cultures and history. Jessica has more than 15 years of experience in freelance writing and marketing. She contributed to the 2022 edition of the Fodor's Chicago guidebook and is currently writing her third book. Jessica founded urbnexplorer.com in 2010 to share stories about culturally curious travel. Her writing and photography have appeared in Condé Nast Traveller, GQ, Chicago magazine, Midwest Living, Architect's Newspaper, Consequence of Sound, Third Coast Review, and elsewhere.

Jessica has a bachelor's degree in English from Miami University with minors in marketing and history.
