Kit Kat's New Flavor Is Inspired By A Classic Breakfast Food
When most people think about reaching for a "breakfast bar" in the morning, they probably envision a granola or protein bar, so the thought of a Kit Kat bar for breakfast may seem a little far-fetched. But, while this isn't a typical way to start your day, you could give it a try this month thanks to the newly announced, breakfast-inspired Kit Kat flavor.
Multi-flavor Kit Kats have been a hit internationally for years, particularly in Japan. The brand has sold over 400 flavors since 2000 as the nation's number one chocolate bar. In recent years, online stories about these flavors, and subsequent interest in them, have led Hershey –- the United States-based distributor of Kit Kats — to start experimenting with its flavors. The created an expanding line of limited-edition and seasonal flavors. This spring, Hershey announced it would be adding to that line-up with a new limited-edition flavor inspired by the classic breakfast treat, blueberry muffins!
Berry nice to meet you
According to a press release from Hershey, the new blueberry muffin flavored Kit Kat will be available in stores nationwide while supplies last starting in April 2022.
Hershey claims that the new flavor "captures all the best qualities of the fan-favorite baked good with notes of fresh and cooked blueberries, a cake batter-like muffin flavor, and graham cookie pieces folded into the bar." The candy bar, which will stand out from its siblings in an eye-catching, bright blue wrapper, also forgoes the traditional chocolate exterior of the Kit Kats we all know and love for a bluish-purple, muffin-flavored crème coating.
The new bars will be available in standard, king, and snack sizes. It joins the growing list of American Kit Kat flavors, including the mocha, strawberry, mint Duo varieties, seasonal lemon crisp, key lime pie, and gingerbread flavors. The brand has also recently forayed into breakfast snack territory with its Fruity Cereal-inspired Kit Kat bar.
