Since college, Katie has combined writing and cooking when she started baking bread between writing finals papers. She started writing professionally in 2015 as a contributor to Ranker, covering topics like pop culture, history, entertainment, and food. She also was a feature writer for Tasty Bytes, a magazine that focused on the intersection of food and technology. In 2021, Katie began working professionally as a bread baker at Eeva in Philadelphia. She joined Tasting Table as a feature writer in 2023, where she continues to talk about food to anyone who will listen.
